· Who: After interviewing 5 other people from different places, I was able to realize that there are a category of people that even though they think it is a good idea, they still fall outside my business idea. Those who fell outside the of my market, are usually people that are healthy however not aficionado about their body or health. For example, one of the interviewees was a 23-year-old student from Michigan and he said he has a regular diet, and eats sweets every now and then, and works out probably 3 – 4 times a week, but not regularly. He thinks the idea is good, but he feels like he does not need it.
o One thing I thought was interesting is that two of the five interviewees pointed out that I would be successful if I were to go everyday by offices during lunch time. This is something I had thought about it, but after those two comments they reinforce that this idea could be very successful.
o One of the interviewees said that if I was able to close a contract with a company/ office or something like a daycare where they would purchase the meals to serve either on brake or whatever the case maybe, that could be another really nice way to have a safe income.
· What: After a nice talk to my interviews, we started to think that the biggest challenge I could face is educating people or convincing them that they need to eat well to live longer. However, if someone does not want to improve their lifestyle there is nothing you could do but wait until they realize it.
· Why: I believe that the need is out there even though some people don’t think they actually need it. The ones that refuse to improve their lives by eating well will face the consequences and eventually look for my products.
Who:
People who are concerned about their diet and looking to improve their life style.
People who does not care about their diet or health.
People who are healthy and does feel that they need help to maximize their results.
What:
To help individuals with difficulty of living a better lifestyle
To fulfill professional athlete’s needs.
Why:
Lack of education, lack of time.
People wants to improve but doesn’t know how.

Hi Valtenius,
ReplyDeleteYour interview comments made me wonder what you are defining as your market. Yes, you are indicating it is a population of people that aren’t eating as healthy as they could or should be, and the reasons may stem from inconvenience and cost. But, is there a segment or segments within that general market that you can connect your product to by meeting a unique need within this larger population? Something to consider as you start to hone in on your product.

Valtenius,
ReplyDeleteOne part of this assignment that I found interesting was the first bullet point about selling your product to businesses with office space or daycares that could provide food for their employees/ children. I think this is a very good idea because it allows you to expand your product more rapidly. One other thing that I think could be useful is identifying a location for your product, whether that be limited to people in Gainesville or elsewhere, I think it is important to start small so you can be focused more specifically.
Hey Valtenius,
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of great points here. We are actually focusing on a similar topic, diet and exercise. I am not surprised at all by your findings, I found a lot of the same things when researching and interviewing people. The biggest point to stand out for me was the lack of education. If people were educated about their diets then it might make it easier to follow a healthier lifestyle.
Thanks for sharing!
Now, I don't know much about diet and food related to that, but i believe a lot of people certainly have that need while others do not. I don't believe there is much to comment about your finding based on those people you interviewed but I do believe that this exercise was a good way to figure out that not everyone will want your product and service. I also believe that It was also meant to help you centralize on your target or potential customers.
