Assignment 11A – Idea Napkin No. 1
Who am I: My name is Valtenius Beltrao, I am currently pursuing a Business administration degree at the University of Florida. I was born and raised in Brazil; therefore, I speak Portuguese, and I also speak Spanish because I lived in Miami for 3 years. I grew up in a family of entrepreneurs. I started my first business when I was 18 years old. Basically I would ship product over to Brazil and charge for that. I also have 3 years of experience in the management field, and now I am currently a Realtor in the Gainesville area.
What am I offering to customers: I am bringing an easy way to make people’s life healthier. A way of efficiently and conveniently improve people’s life style by changing their diet. Instead of on lunch break they go to the fast food on the corner or to the Starbucks, they are going to have their meal ready for them, much more healthy and cheaper as well.
Who am I offering this product to: The answer for this question is the simplest one. To everyone who wants to improve their health. My main target are workers who eat out every day because they don’t bring food from their home, or the people who know they must do something about their lifestyle, they must start to exercise and have a better diet, but they are still too busy. We can reach anyone who wants a better life.
Why do they care? Simple, they care because in a lot of times they don’t want to die. I have heard of many stories of people who was extremely dedicated to their career and not even a little to their health being told by doctors that if they don’t change their habits now they will die sooner than later’. People want to live better, people want to live longer, people want to look better, and that is why they care.
What are my core competencies? I have been an athlete my whole life, my partner has a degree in nutrition, with my expertise and her, we can create the perfect program for those who needs. I also bring the convenience of delivering the food at my customer’s home for an affordable price. If you were to compare to other companies doing the same thing, I’d say the main difference is that we are going to be more involved with each customer individually.
I believe that those five elements mentioned previously work well together, however there are room for improvements. For example, I know my customer could be anyone who wants a better life, but maybe I should find out more precisely who those people are. And the only negative aspect about it is that I could waste some marketing money in not targeting the right people. But overall I think those five elements go well together and have what takes to build a successful business.

Hi Valtenius,
ReplyDeleteI agree with your final statement regarding finding out more precisely who your customers are. You mention targeting anyone who is interested in being healthier. But, like Dr. Pryor has been sharing in lecture, what segment is the 20% of your market that will provide 80% of your business? Is it the fast food lunch eaters? Is it the hard-core fitness nuts that work out 5 hours a day? Is it the fad dieters? Once you come up with a plan to target one of these market segments, I think your next steps for product development will become clearer.
