Get your S*** done.
- Tenaciousness is a
competency. What are the behaviors that you
have used (or developed) to keep up with the requirements of this
course?
a.
Well, my life is different
than most other 22-year-old students, I have two full time jobs, school and a girlfriend
(lol). One skill I certainly had to improve for this class was my time
management. This class requires you to work in different days, which means
procrastinating to do all at the end does not wor.
- Tenaciousness is also about
attitude. Talk about a moment or two when
you felt like "giving up." What pulled you through? Do you feel
like you've developed a tenacious attitude during the past two months?
What experience or experiences most contributed to this?
.
To be honest, I don’t have
the term “give up” in my dictionary. I never thought about giving up, there
were times that things got harder, but don’t give up, it gets easier with time.
- Three tips. What
are three tips you would offer next semester's student about (1) fostering
the skills that support tenacity and (2) developing the 'tenacious
mindset'?
.
1. Time management. Be
sure to set up a calendar reminder and to be organized. Things get in the
middle of the way all the time, but you got to get through them with glory.
2. Developing a tenacious mindset has to do with getting the job
done. I am sure that if you made this far in your life you must be doing
something right. Keep up and don’t procrastinate.
3. Focus on the end result, the process is time consuming, but for
me at least, focusing on the end result helps me get focused. Get to know some
people in this class, they have a nice mindset and might be connections you
take for a long time.

Hi Valtenius,
ReplyDeleteWhoa! Two full time jobs!? I have a full-time job, school, and am single and I can barely keep up! I agree with you that what really pulls you through to the end and gets you across the finish line is focusing on the end result. Remembering what you set out to accomplish, and why you made that commitment to yourself, is also my primary motivating factor.

Valtenius,
ReplyDeleteI really like what you said about focusing on the end result. In my experience, I always visualize the end results and I let that visualization motivate me to get my work done. I am always thinking about how I will feel when I finish, and that is what pushes me through, so I totally agree.
